Feliz Año Nuevo

December 28, 2015
Well..... the black year is ending! 2015 has been the BEST one yet haha... I love the mission so much.

This is going to be quick... not much time.

So since Christmas it has been kind of a somber week..... Christmas night we found out our bishop’s wife.... who was pregnant and expecting a baby girl on the 27 passed away before she was born (the baby). It was really unexpected and hard because no one was working Christmas day and they didn’t know the cause.

So this week we have helped out with the funeral and talked to the members to try and help that poor family out. I did a lot of piano playing which was good.

This week with the ward I learned what we really are supposed to do as missionaries for the ward…. We can only do so much, but we tried to make sure the ward knew what happened, then just went to support them at the funeral and viewing. I realized how we are just here to help these struggling members become stronger in their testimonies and really build them up. So many times I complain about consejo, members coming with us, etc. When really I feel I need to ask more “what can I do to help?” They have a lot bigger problems than I feel like I ever will, and I know I can do a lot more just to strengthen them and help them keep going. It was a sad and kind of exhausting week with all of that. I cried more than once being there, talking to the bishop and just realizing how fragile life is, but also being reminded of eternal truths. I know that the spirit can really help us mourn with those who mourn and try to comfort them with what we can.

I am so thankful that families can be together forever and the eternal truths of the resurrection.

We only had one hour of church before the funeral service, but we had some investigators come! The cool thing is, the whole last week we contacted and had started to teach the bishop’s sister, then his brother and his aunt and family… I know the Lord has a wise purpose in all that He does. His brother showed up, looked in the window and walked away, so I grabbed Hermana Wood and we flagged him down and told him to come back, he said he was just there for the viewing, but ended up staying and loving sacrament meeting.

The Lord has a plan for it all, sometimes it’s kind of amazing to just sit back and trust as it all falls into place.

Hope you all have a great new years with new goals and know how much I love you all!

Not far

Christmas Eve!

December 25, 2015
Hey! Merry Christmas to all! One quick thought for the navidad....

Acts 17:27

I know that he is not far from every one of us. He is our savior and redeemer that came down to earth not too long ago to give us all the hope we desperately need.

I know He lives, I know He is never far and can be with us always if we just choose to seek Him. I love Him more than I can even begin to describe and know He lives and loves me.

Love you all, Merry Christmas!

Feliz Navidad.....cambios for christmas

I'm going to miss her lots.....

December 21, 2015
There is no way to capture the miracles that happened this week. So I’ll try my best.
Monday Karina and Ivan told us they didn’t want to get married yet.... so that was a big bummer. Not going to lie I was confused. It just seemed like they were ready! But that night we had to call president for some other things and we asked about a girl named Katy that he had said if she read the Book of Mormon she could get baptized. We had planned a date for the 19th, but she wasn’t ready hardly at all so we had kind of given up hope. But he said he felt that she was ready, she has come to seminary and church for a year and is prepared, she is just 15. So we were SUPER surprised and excited.

This whole week me and Hermana Smith had been planning the baptism and enjoying the Christmas season. So many good things are happening in Remigio. On Wednesday president came to our district meeting, helped us repent and do better then told me that I would have a cambio (change) the next day.
So that was a little sad haha....

BUT I am in La Victoria AGAIN. Right next to my old area in Imperio with Hermana Wood from Canada who I was with in the CCM! We are Hermana Leaders so that will be super fun to be able to serve and help out other hermanas. She is awesome and I’m so excited to work hard with her.

This week we also sang at the plaza de armas which was amazing! There is nothing like spreading the true meaning of Christmas as a missionary. There were lights, a giant nativity and lots of people. It was so fun to sing, and to see Hermana Smith lots haha.....

I got to go back to see Katy get baptized which was amazing. I met Hermana Petty from HYDE PARK which was super sweet. She is such a sweetheart, her and Hermana Smith are going to kill it. Awesome hermanas.

It seems I have learned more this week about the true meaning of Christmas than every before. It’s about giving. Giving till you just think you cant give any more. Giving till the miracles come, or even if they don’t, because He is the only real gift we can give. Then accepting the gift that he gives us every day of hope for a better tomorrow and peace through His atonement.

I know that my Savior lives. I have felt his comforting hand more than ever this week and am so grateful for the hope and guidance he gives to all of us through the gospel, just like he did when the Father sent Him down to earth.

I hope you all have a very merry Christmas. There is an ever real magic that comes with the profound love the Savior shares with each of us through his spirit. I hope you have the chance to feel it this Christmas season.

Feliz Navidad!

Ha nacido un Salvador

Christmas time....

December 14, 2015
Hey hey.... this will be short.... it has been a crazy day. And..... I kind of ran out of time. BUT few things.
So Karina and Ivan missed the date to get married... so their baptism may be a little later. BUT they came to church and fed us lots of rice... so still awesome.
This week was our Christmas party which was super fun! We watched the clay mation Santa Claus is coming to town which brought back good memories. Our mission is awesome.
Also this Friday we will be singing in the plaza with all of the missionaries which will be a magical night, can’t wait.
And we get to share the video ha nacido un salvador with everyone and it is pretty much the best thing ever. In Alma 34:15 it talks about Christ’s purpose, to SAVE US and give us the faith to improve. I know that is so true for me and each of us this Christmas season.

Hope you all have a great week!

President gave us permission to visit a family in the ciudad de dios which is closer to the beach which was super fun! it is pretty humble... lots of cows and pigs, but it has been a fun switch up!
