LOVE my comp sooooo much! Alma and Amulek haha.

June 29, 2015
Well... when I was in Israel with my family the whole week we kept asking when we would talk more about the life of Jesus and his events, and our tour guide always said "Friday!" But this week was definitely a week of Fridays haha... I finally got to the part in the Book of Mormon in Spanish when Jesus comes to the Americas, and it made my whole week.

And we ate sliced bread one day for lunch, that was amazing.

Other than that things are going well. A little more info about my new area...

We have a family that the elders left us that have a date to get baptized in Julio, so we are working towards that. We had a noche de hogar with the bishop and then played Uno and they were just amazed at how fun that game is.... guess you take it for granted when you play it every Sunday growing up haha.

Besides that it has been COLD here. Wore a scarf for the first time in my mission. Pretty much all the roads are dirt and there are always kids playing soccer at night. LOVE IT. Our ward is HUGE. Well, bigger than any I have known. It was awesome to finally go to church and get to know more members, they are amazing. We have had a ton of help and I’m super excited to keep working with them.

Also we have another investigator named Jampier. He is 12 years old and lives with his grandma who is a member, he has to read all of the Book of Mormon before he can get baptized, but he is doing so well! I love teaching him and seeing the desire he has to learn and be committed to the gospel. Hopefully this month we will be able to help him take that step.

I honestly have just grown so much more to love my Savior this week, to feel of His teachings and see the way he has molded my life. Even though sometimes its hard to be rejected by people here, I will never get tired of testifying of Him and the miracles He is ready to give us everyday.
Love you all!

Adventure Week!

Our new apt is on the 3rd floor and so not Peruvian... I feel like I'm in Amercia... so spoiled!

June 22, 2015
If I was to say that this week was anything short of the greatest adventure ever I would be lying haha... It has been SO FUN and SO LONG.

We played sports, visited all of Reque that we could and packed all monday, went to the office for the emergency transfers on Tuesday, I worked with Hermana Wood from the ccm all Tuesday while I was waiting for Hermana Zamora which was super fun.
She showed up and the zone leaders took us to our... apartment. Oh my gosh. The lives of hermanas and elders in the mission is very different. Literally living with chickens, cats, rats, cockroaches all night long, not super big, and very Peruvian. President told us to find a new room before, so we didn't unpack and I honestly felt like we were camping all week, super fun.

So I'm in the area called Imperio with Hermana Zamora, SO MUCH FUN. I love love love her. The ward we are in hasn't had hermanas for about 7 years, so everyone is pretty excited to have us. Our area is pretty ghetto, mostly all dirt, but I love it so much already, we are just very lost all the time haha.

This week I have gained such a strong testimony and appreciation for the spirit. Everyday to find people, find an apartment, know where to go, etc, we pretty much depended completely on the spirit, and AMAZING things happened. We found a cuarto from just asking a lady on the street if she knew of one, and it turned out to be super nice and cheap and close to our pension, so not a coincidence. Everything has just worked out and it has been so fun to see the Lord work in our lives and help us open this area.

The best part of the week was the dedication of the Trujillo temple yesterday!! These people have waited so long for this temple! Crazy part though was we were waiting in the first session with our convert Wendy from Reque, and the signal wasn't working, and at about 10 minutes after the broadcast had started I started to get frustrated, the chapel was packed and these faithful members deserved to see it be dedicated! I learned though that you can't just pray for the things you want, like the signal to work, but for the Lord's will. I felt prompted after that to play the piano while we waited and they were trying to get things to work. I ended up playing the piano for about 2 hours as they tried to get it to work and never quite succeeded. For who knows why it wasn't His will for it to work for that session, but the spirit I felt as I played and they sang was amazing.

Thankful that we have the chance to use our feeble talents to do the work of the Lord, He will take all we have if we just offer it.

Love you all for your love and support, I pray for you everyday and hope all is well.

Do we love much?

chiclayo chiclayo chiclayo... love it.

June 15, 2015
Humility. Humility is the key to success. Read the talk by Elder Ucthdorf this week and it taught me lots about grace which I loved. It talks about the example of a woman begging the Lord for mercy, while another man is content with his own righteousness. He then teaches the parabola that he who is forgiven much, loves much. When we honestly are humble, and see our weaknesses and strive to become better through Him, we love much. Certain times in the mission I just feel like the Lord has poured out so many blessings on me and trusted me to take care of and help His children know the truth, and a lot of times it is hard to feel adequate to do that haha... but I know that His grace is always sufficient, and it’s a lot of fun to get to do this work. Great week.

Crazy turn of events, I’m leaving Reque tomorrow with my companion to open an area in Chiclayo! Woot... the craziest part is I will be back with Hermana Zamora!! So crazy... I’m super excited, but this weekend has been a little bit crazy.

Kind of bummed to get kicked out of our area, just feel like I have put so much into this ward and seen so many blessings and miracles... hard to leave, but It’ll be great. I love the new experiences to learn and grow that the Lord has given me and am excited for more!

This week has been awesome. We are seeing so many FAMILIES progress as they are starting to come to church, read the Book of Mormon and grow closer to their Savior. I know more than anything that our families are the key to success and all happiness in this life.

Sorry it’s short, know I love you all and am thankful for you everyday!

Service of the Lord

Hermana Wendy's baptism!

June 8, 2015
Well... every week I try, but I just cannot express how great it is to be a missionary. I love it. I love it so much and love losing myself in the service of the Lord.

This week was AWESOME. Like all of them haha.... but, Hermana Wendy got baptized! What a party! It was so humbling and so exciting to see her conversion in her decision. One thing she said in her testimony... "I’m grateful that my Heavenly Father has brought me here." So true. We are just spoiled as missionaries to get to be a part of His work.

My new companion is Hermana CORONA de Mexico!! woot! Another Mexicana.... sticking with the Latina streak my whole mission haha... But she is awesome. I told her she was a hipster, and she said in English. NO. A hipster is a hippie nerd. I’m not a hipster. hahah... but she is pretty dang awesome. I love working with her and we have already had way too many laughs. But seen a lot of great things happening.

Also we have a new investigator named Luisa that is a reference of a member we are close with. She is coming to church and is from Jaen! So that was fun. We have just been talking about the plan of salvation, but I have come to realize how powerful the simple truths are. That yeah, we are children of god and have a divine purpose. She is doing great and really has the desire to learn.

Besides that Peru and Reque are still the same. We tried to visit a menos activo new convert and they were all drinking. Slammed the windows shut and ran into the back of their house when we knocked on the door... hahah. And we didn’t hear anything... nah. But, we laughed pretty hard. Too bad everybody has their own agency.

I was reading about the life of Christ and of Mary and Martha... and how its says she forgot herself in the work. I really feel like I’m coming to that point. The language, companions, the people, members, everything. I just feel so happy and so blessed to have the opportunity to serve... nothing else really matters. What a great opportunity we all have to lose ourselves in this work. Nothing greater.

Love you all, thanks for your prayers and support! Have a great week!

Apple... Apple. Apple

Peru... to a T

June 1, 2015

What the heck... miracles happen!
So this week we are planning for a baptism for HERMANA WENDY! I honestly wasn’t sure we would ever see this day, but the Lord has softened her heart and she will be baptized this Friday! WOOT!
The only part that kind of really stinks is my companion has cambios tomorrow... so she won’t be here for it.  Really wish I could have worked my whole mission with Hermana Zamora, but the lord knows what is best.
This week we were studying lots of English because I was sick of Spanish... and I was explaining the vowels and realized there are 3 different A sounds... like apple... Apple. haha oh man, I laughed for 5 minutes by myself when I remembered Studio C "worst teacher ever" and realized I had made the same mistake... so good.
Besides that the week was pretty great, teaching, testifying, learning and seeing the miracles of the mission.
Truth is I can’t remember what we did this week and this will be kind of short. But, life is good.
Went to the Plaza de Armas today for P day to buy some things we needed haha...
Love you all!
