Goodbye Pomalca

August 24, 2015
Well..... that what the best 6 weeks of my life! To bad all good things must come to an end.... getting transferred again tomorrow to who knows where, and Hermana Nelson is leaving too, just leaving Hermana Monson behind! I have been so very blessed this transfer in every way. The ward, pensionista companions, etc etc etc.... what tender mercies the Lord has given me. BUT I’m excited for another change.... always better things ahead.

This week was great, we knew it would probably be our last together so we tried to work hard and party hard. For lots of lessons to candlelight cereal and yogurt dinners... I think we just about did it all. So fun.

We went to an historical site with our pension family on Monday where there were lots of ancient tombs of rich old people buried with llamas... so awesome.

Also we had a great ndh with a lot of the ward and an investigator and played fruit basket... where you get up from your chairs and change and I have never seen Peruvians laugh so hard, it was great.

Besides that it was a week of adventures.... one night we were walking and Hermana Nelson passed out.... so we had to work out some first aid skills and try and keep her conscious.... I will always be grateful for the gift of the spirit. We were able to get a moto everything figured out and she is fine, but it was a little scary.

I think my favorite thing this week was learning more about accountability... everyone always commits to so many things here, and I’m just to the point where I struggle to believe them... because they all lie. But in thinking if my words really match my actions, I know I have lots to change. But one thing I love is that the Lord is always accountable, and will do exactly what he says and teaches, which is why we cant exercise our faith in him everyday. So grateful to have Him for my heavenly friend and learn through His spirit everyday.

Who knows what is coming up on the next adventure, but I’m so excited to start again and have the opportunity to grow.

Love you all so much..... SO EXCITED FOR ELDER BEDNAR THIS SATURDAY and will have to tell you all about it. Thanks for your prayers and love.

Hermana Margarita!! So fun to see her!

Well..... This mission thing is just SO CHUCK FULL OF ADVENTURES... I love it.

Monday morning after running I tore my hamstring stretching.... not TOO much pain so I knew it wasn’t that bad, but enough to get me thinking and a little worried.

We made cookies with our bishop, taught, then Tuesday and Wednesday I had to rest with my pensionista and her family who are on their Christmas vacation.... SO.... we played spot it and uno for two days straight... lots of fun and I was really missing walking around in the dirt haha... but really, it tried my patience a little bit. But they are an amazing family.

Then we went to the doctor Wednesday night and she said it was just torn a little and all is good, but we had a multizona on Thursday so Hermana Williams is like, "you girls can just come stay with us" so we didn’t have to make the trip again. SO WE STAYED WITH PRESIDENT AND HIS WIFE.

It was such a blessing. We ate salad and spaghetti and ice cream, I definitely cried to see all that. They are seriously such dedicated and loving servants of the Lord, it was such a blessing to be with them.

The multizona was great, just prepping more for Elder Bednar and studying about faith.

I finally got out working the last part of the week and it was awesome. Slowly but surely we are finding more people and helping the members to share the gospel. My favorite is still that family that we are helping come back to church, night and day. The power of the Book of Mormon is so strong, they have taught me so much about repentance and the choice to always start over.

We sang in church on Sunday with the relief society which was awesome, and got a surprise visit from my old pensionista from Jaen... love hermana margarita... definitely cried.

All in all this week I have learned a lot about faith and accepting the Lords will. In doing the little things, even when it doesn’t quite seem to pay off, and always working your hardest and trusting in Him COMPLETELY, and little by little we become more converted to the Lord.

Love you all, keep up the great work and thanks for all of your love and support.

Thats what Faith can do

9 months haha

August 10, 2015
So... we are just studying like crazy about faith to prepare for Elder Bednar at the end of the month and it is amazing. Faith can do so much and is so essential to every part of salvation, I have loved studying it and learning more!
This week was great, for my nine months my pension family made a sign and we had hamburgers and brownies.. pretty much the best day ever.
Also I had intercambios this week and went to ViaReal which is the NICEST area in our mission right in the central and wow... I was pretty much in shock all day! Such pretty houses, well dressed people, pantries full of food, carpet... it was a little too much, I was glad to come back to our dirt street town.
We also had a zone meeting and found out we have another multizona this Friday which I am excited about, we are all just SO PUMPED for Elder Bednar to come, it will change my life haha.
This week we FINALLY saw some results. Sometimes there just seem so be a gap between the work and the rewards, but we found some great investigators, one lady named Gladys, was a reference of a less active whose son was baptized years ago, but she never was. We talked and as tears rolled down her face we were able to teach with the spirit and she just said, "Thanks for coming to visit me and help me today." I love those moments when we get a glimpse of the work we are doing.
Also Melisa! We also found her through a reference, she has 5 kids and wants to get baptized... one of those miracle lessons, BUT she isn't married... like all of Peru. So we are starting to work with her.
Funniest night was we went to visit less actives and this family has a daughter Valeria who was on "the kids voice" and is VERY TALENTED SINGER. She did a few songs for us, we shared a message with all of the people she was teaching to sing, then I sang a hymn... thought I might as well use some talents and it was REALLY fun. First time singing in forever, but I loved sharing and talking about the gospel with music.
Also we are teaching a family Patricia who recently came back and I wrote about her husband Alberto last week who came back for the first time in forever. They are a miracle. This week we got to eat cake with them for a birthday but the spirit we feel and the POWER if have seen work in them through READING THE BOOK OF MORMON is amazing. I love the gospel.
Besides that life is good, feeling better and LOVING BEING A MISSIONARY!
Have a great week!

THE TOP!

Independencia

August 3, 2015
Well... I have reached the half way mark of the mish. The top, and now its time to start the descent of the mountain, but it’ll probably be a climb still, but that is what makes it fun.
This week was NUTS.
It was independece day for Peru, nothing too exciting happened except the fact my water bottle got stolen, but it seems like more of a labor day for them down here. Everyone just stayed inside or traveled, and there wasn’t anything very exciting.

Also for a noche misional I participated in a bag race and everyone was thinking it was the coolest thing ever, but it was pretty fun.

Besides that it was pretty normal. Found out what was wrong with my stomach and feeling lots better! So that is always easier to work when you feel like you can do it haha.

Also I bought a magnifying glass because no one can see down here, and it has been so fun! I pulled it out in a ndh to read the hymns and we almost died laughing... super funny.

One of the things I have noticed this week though is the POWER OF THE SPIRIT. I had a cool experience, one day in our district meeting a guy was filling up water at the church with the churches filter... not super honest, but its Peru. But as the meeting went on I felt I should talk to him, and I’ve learned a little more that you NEED to listen to the spirit, so I stood up in the middle of the meeting and the words just came, told him it wasn’t worth his integrity to use the churches resources for who knows what...

I felt that really the Lord uses us to help his children, and that I didn’t really WANT to get mad at that guy, but he may have needed it. Who knows.

Also we had a less active we were working with come back to church after 6 years and it was so sweet to see the ward welcome him back. He used to be the mission leader and his converts all greeted him with open arms. He is so excited and it truly was a miracle.

But this whole week I have just felt so led by the spirit to do the things that I should, even though at times they are hard. And truly that is all that we can do here, listen to what we should do and do our best to help the work go forth on earth.

Love you all and hope you remember the great part you play in the plan, keep up the great work and never do anything to lose the spirit.

Thanks for your prayers, and all of your support,

Hermana Clegg
