Pioneers of Peru.. all is well

ndh with investigators on the roof

July 27, 2015
Well... this week was awesome! There is nothing quite like celebrating pioneer day in the middle of country town of Peru with 3 people from Utah... I LOVE THEM.

We had quite the week... going back and forth from Doctors in Chiclayo and taking all sorts of tests to try and figure out what is wrong with my stomach... but lots of fun haha...

But I am seriously loving every second of this cambio and learning lots.   From singing hymns in ENGLISH every night to running every morning, and testifying with these amazing hermanas I just feel so blessed!

We have absolutely no one to teach right now… everyone is on vacation for the independencia de peru and so we are doing lots of knocking doors and visiting members...  and lots and lots of walking to remember the pioneers.

But I have learned some great lessons this week and lots of patience...  as I have been studying about faith and miracles and how we should ASK for the things we need... it is kind of like a parent. Heavenly Father wants US to DO our homework and figure it out the best we can by asking him along the way. That way we learn and strengthen our faith. And some times you just got to KEEP WORKING. Even if it seems like nothing is happening, you just keep going.

But in remembering the pioneers and all of the stories, i am amazed at their ability to work. That is something that makes them and the start of our church amazing... they all worked together.

So just keep going... it'll work out, and we’ll be blessed. Always.

Also…Elder Bednar is coming to our mission in August.. this is the best life ever. Love you all.

Pomalca... times 3!

New comps Hermana Monson and Hermana Nelson

July 20, 2015
Well.... this mission thing just seems to get crazier and crazier...
My new area is called Pomalca.... quick summary.
DIRT. Everyday all day.. so much, in your teeth and everything...
Sugar cane... it is a small pueblito surrounded by sugar cane fields... and lots of mosquitos.
Really nice houses and people. I LOVE the people here, never have I met such nice and caring and open people. It’s awesome.
AND my companions... yup. I’m in a 3 some with TWO GRINGAS FROM UTAH. So we are 3 white girls walking the streets of Peru talking about Utah. Hermana Nelson from American Fork and Hermana Monson from Sandy.
IT IS THE BEST. Never have I loved the mission so much and felt so much that the Lord answers prayers.
Also, my pensionista is the best person I have ever met. She makes me what I want and we are trying to figure out my health together. So awesome.
The area is great, we are trying to figure out the ward because two of us are new and Hermana Monson has like 3 weeks here. But so far so good. Best parts about the week...
Teaching a family that we recently found that lives in a really nice house.. nicest I have see on the mish and they are so open to the restoration and fed us chocolate cake, literally almost died I was so happy. A family in a really nice house wants to give us chocolate cake and accept the gospel... I’m signing, you’re signing, we’re all signing!! (That thing you do)
Also we run every morning around a dirt soccer field and I cheer on my companions who have been running a lot more than me haha...
We have a menos activo that we got to see milk some cows on her farm... feels like home!
All in all... I have felt extremely blessed this week. SO BLESSED. I just love the strength that the Lord gives us and the way he will give us what we ask for if it is in His will.
I also have been studying a lot about the pioneers for the month and one thing I loved was talking about the Zion’s camp. It talks of how they went through a lot of hard things, not to really help the other saints, but to make them into future leaders of the church. People who would serve the Lord a hundred percent all the time, no matter what the circumstances... In a way I feel that is the mission... it’s hard, it’s trying, but its amazing. The spirit I am learning to follow and the blessings that flow, all just preparing me and helping me get my heart in the right place.
And the best part is I am FINALLY with Americans so I can celebrate the holidays... so well send a pioneer pic haha...
Love you all. Thanks for your support, love, and letters. His promises are sure.

Emperial Cruise

going to miss her...

July 13, 2015
Well... I thought I would make this super cool and make an educated line about the Emperial Cruise that talks about the pre-events to world war two... BUT I cant remember how to spell emperial. imperio... yeah....

BUT this is my last day in my area of Imperio, I have transfers once again tomorrow to who knows where, but it was a fun "cruise" for 3 weeks to open an area in the ghetto haha...

This week I have learned more and felt more miracles than I could ever explain. With the passing of my grandpa I have learned a lot more about the spirit as the comforter, the blessing of the atonement, and the power of service. There were so many miracles this week.

We found a grandma named Sirvella helping her weed and she was SO prepared. She accepted the plan of salvation and the restoration so quickly because recently her husband passed away. I can't believe we just found her last week. The Lord works in mysterious ways, but always has a plan.

Also there is a joven (teenager) named Liliana who is from the selva (jungle) and had some CRAZY ideas about the plan of salvation... but helping her understand the love her Heavenly Father has was so incredible and literally you could see the change and the hope it gave her. I love this work so much.

Also we have another investigator who is partially paralyzed and fell in the morning when we came to visit and was in a lot of pain. He asked for a blessing and it was an incredible experience. So much peace that the power of God brings.

Also... my comp wanted to cut my hair because I wanted some layers and she CHOPPED it... so I'm back to short lion hair haha... I just couldn't be mad though, moments like this will never come back!

Highlight was we had to straight up book it for two blocks to get away from a drunk who was doing an incredibly fast zombie shuffle... super fun

And our pensionista went to Lima for the weekend and we told her... just give us fruit! So like a grandma she gave us a straight up bucket of fruit and we have been gorging ourselves on all sorts of tropical fruits. Love it.

If more than anything I learned that we can't pit our will against the Lords. Just need to be humble enough to accept it without complaining. He has such an intricate plan for each and everyone of us, I have felt that so much this week. He is just preparing us to become amazing so we can return to His presence. Felt so much of His love and plan for my life and for each of His children this week.

Love you all. THANK YOU for your letters and encouragement. It just gets better and better!

LOVE my comp sooooo much! Alma and Amulek haha.

June 29, 2015
Well... when I was in Israel with my family the whole week we kept asking when we would talk more about the life of Jesus and his events, and our tour guide always said "Friday!" But this week was definitely a week of Fridays haha... I finally got to the part in the Book of Mormon in Spanish when Jesus comes to the Americas, and it made my whole week.

And we ate sliced bread one day for lunch, that was amazing.

Other than that things are going well. A little more info about my new area...

We have a family that the elders left us that have a date to get baptized in Julio, so we are working towards that. We had a noche de hogar with the bishop and then played Uno and they were just amazed at how fun that game is.... guess you take it for granted when you play it every Sunday growing up haha.

Besides that it has been COLD here. Wore a scarf for the first time in my mission. Pretty much all the roads are dirt and there are always kids playing soccer at night. LOVE IT. Our ward is HUGE. Well, bigger than any I have known. It was awesome to finally go to church and get to know more members, they are amazing. We have had a ton of help and I’m super excited to keep working with them.

Also we have another investigator named Jampier. He is 12 years old and lives with his grandma who is a member, he has to read all of the Book of Mormon before he can get baptized, but he is doing so well! I love teaching him and seeing the desire he has to learn and be committed to the gospel. Hopefully this month we will be able to help him take that step.

I honestly have just grown so much more to love my Savior this week, to feel of His teachings and see the way he has molded my life. Even though sometimes its hard to be rejected by people here, I will never get tired of testifying of Him and the miracles He is ready to give us everyday.
Love you all!
